Heba Aboul-Enien: Life beyond the barrier
This paper addresses the death of the researcher’s son in an Islamic context. It discusses Islamic death concepts in relation to modern science; since some of these beliefs parallel specific scientific studies, i.e. the fact that the dead still hear. Moreover, in Islamic tradition, the dead live a life beyond a barrier, and know about their relatives’ lives, a fact that is unfolded in dreams. Thus, the paper refers to selected dreams; personal and ones from traditional books of dreams, to reveal that relations with the dead continue in the form of dreams which at times turn to be realistic.
