Racheal Harris is a current PhD student with Deakin University (Australia). Her research is focused on the afterlives of companion animals and looks at the ways in which relationships between animals and their human caretakers are perpetuated after the death of the animal. In 2019 she published a monograph as part of the Emerald Death & Culture series. Titled Skin, Meaning, and Symbolism in Pet Memorials, it considers contemporary death practices related to mourning and memorializing companion animals. Racheal has worked as a medium and animal communicator, and is also an end of life doula specialising in end of life care for companion animals.
